Literacy is the key word in Jasmine's response. It is true that many more worlds are open to people who are functional in two or more languages and have literacy skills in more than one language. That is the purpose of dual immersion programs: They don't only exist to help second language learners, but also to give native English speakers a much needed second language that is bound to help them in a very competitive world.
